From a young age, there was one thing that Tenten wanted to do over anything. She loved to dance. Since she was able to walk, her parents put her into some sort of dance. First, it was Ballet. Of course, she immediately fell in love with it. When she entered school, her parents would tell her that she couldn’t dance unless all her homework was complete. Of course this was plenty of incentive for the young girl. This was how she began to love school and the work that came with it. At the Age of 11 Tenten found herself being asked if she wanted to work on pointe. With a smiling face, Tenten agreed, and began the rigorous training that pointe requires.

Of course, Tenten learned quickly that most girls quite Ballet at a young age, and most men laughed at anything as ‘girly’ as Ballet. So, she hid her love and her talent. She found that she enjoyed hanging out with boys and became a tomboy. This didn’t really seem all that much of a problem, to the little girl. She enjoyed the friends she made, and all the activities she was doing. However, a certain color began to grow on Tenten, pink. It didn’t seem that he group of male friends cared that she had such a girly color as her favorite. All they cared about was how hard she could punch, how fast she could run, and how hard she could tackle. And so that is how it went. Of course, her dancing and her friends only gave her the physical strength that she needed to continue dancing.

After Tenten had been dancing pointe for two years, Tenten fell, and sustained a dislocated kneecap. She later learned that she had patellar Subluxation. At that point, she had to be taken from the lead part of the performance and put on bed rest until she would be able to dance again. As she got better, she tried to sneak behind her parents backs and dance again. However this didn’t work. When attending school, Tenten wore bigger pants to hide her wrapped knee. She wasn’t supposed to walk on her knee, but she was too stubborn. After all these years, she wasn’t going to allow anyone to know she had hurt herself doing Ballet.

The injury itself took several months to heal, however it took much longer for her to get back to dancing for several reasons. If Tenten was going to continue dancing, she was going to have to have a surgery. It was decided, because of the strain that dancing took, Tenten was surely going to have to get surgery at some point in her life. At the age of 13, Tenten made the decision that she wanted to go into the minor surgery that would allow her to continue doing the one thing that she loved the most. The many months and years after this surgery, Tenten continued to attend weekly physical therapy sessions, and always tapped her knee when she danced.

During the time after her surgery, it was suggested to the girl that she take other classes in other forms of dance too. Tenten began to attend lower level private Dance lessons twice a week, while the other three days of the week that she used to dedicate to Ballet went to a different type of dance. She decided to do Jazz dancing, with the influence of her doctor. Because Jazz was a lot like Ballet in some aspects, it was easy for her. Jazz dancing often uses bold, dramatic body movements, including body isolations and contractions, which helped with the physical therapy aspect of her recovery. When going into Jazz, Tenten had decided that she was going to try at least two different types of dance. However, she fell in love with Jazz as much as she loved Ballet, and because it was better for her recovery, she stuck with it.

As she got better, she evenly divided her time between Ballet and Jazz, with shorter and shorter visits with her physical therapist. By the time she was a senior in College, she was much better, only needing to see her physical therapist once a month. It was obvious where she was going to go to College, and her Major was plain as day. She applied to Sarutobi University in October, and received her acceptance letter before she went off for Christmas break. It was a good thing too, since Tenten hadn’t applied to any other Colleges. But it didn’t seem necessary, and it wasn’t. Her senior year went by easier then the years before, and she grew into the person that entered Sarutobi University.
